15 Dos and Don’ts for Destination Spas

How does this sound for a honeymoon — hot stone massages, foot rubs, aromatherapy? The Canyon Ranch properties have some of the most famous destination spas in the world. We sat down with Laura Hittleman, Canyon Ranch’s director of beauty services (we know, sounds like a great job, huh?), to get the lowdown on what you should know before you go. — Charli Penn

Treatments For Your Bridal Party

You’ve finally figured out your bridal party and avoided catastrophe by inviting your second cousin twice removed to be the ring bearer (after all, he’s four-years-old). Thank everyone involved in your big day by booking them role-appropriate spa treatments.

For Your Ring Bearer

Tip: Chances are your ring bearer will feel left out if he hears about the outing after the fact, so pick something unique to treat him to (that he’ll really enjoy). Tell him in advance that you’ve got something extra-special in store for him instead! – By Charli Penn

Blushing Bride

Getting hitched and unsure about how to revamp your makeup routine? The editors over at WeddingChannel.com have just the answer.

Tip 1: Just Be You (Well, You Know, the Best Version of You!)

“Your wedding day isn’t the time to experiment with extreme beauty trends. Get a makeup trial a few weeks before your wedding (or if you’re doing it yourself, make sure to experiment a few weeks before) and then take photos with a digital camera to see how the look will appear in pictures. You essentially want a fairly natural look that makes you appear as a better version of yourself.” –Tammy Siu, former beauty director, Us Magazine

Tip 2: Find the Right Foundation

“Most of us have been taught to conceal dark under-eye circles with a yellow-based concealer — I disagree. You want to use a salmon color. Yellow-based concealers are great for covering redness around the face, but salmon will neutralize those bluish-green veins many of us have under our eyes.” –Eve Pearl, celebrity makeup artist

Tip 3: Prep Your Skin Weeks in Advance (Literally — at Least Six Weeks Before Your Wedding Day)

“You want your makeup to be flawless on your wedding day. The trick to that isn’t amazing cosmetics — but amazing skin. I keep mine in check with a strict daily beauty regimen using 3LAB skin-care products. I love their ‘Perfect’ line and start off with their facial wash followed by the cleansing scrub and moisturizer. I’d suggest a regimen like this at least two to three weeks before your wedding so the glow you have is the result of healthy skin, not a stick of bronzer.” –Zandile Blay, market editor, Paper Magazine

Lashing Out

Whether you’re the blissful bride, envious bridesmaid, or a forgotten guest, weddings are all about getting gussied up. While you should never try and outplay the Queen B, there’s no reason why you can’t be a glamazon. WeddingChannel.com has put together a slideshow of this season’s hottest looks for beauty-obsessed wedding-goers. My favorite: fake eyelashes.
