Wedding Wednesday: Gene Simmons Finally Ties the Knot!

The man who swore he would never utter the words “I Do,” Mr. Gene Simmons, is married. He FINALLY tied the knot to long-time girlfriend (28 years!) and mother of his two children, Shannon Tweed. Gene is the front man of legendary rock band KISS and infamously has claimed to have slept with over 4500 women. Thankfully the groom didn’t don his KISS makeup for the ceremony but instead opted for a classic tux.

Here’s the official invite…

The couple shares a love of plastic surgery and a sense of humor.

The wedding will air October 18th on their A&E reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Congrats to the couple!

6 Fun-Themed Mani/Pedis for Your Bridesmaids

We know it’s your big day, but this Wedding Wednesday we wanted to give you gentle reminder to give thanks to your bridal party. They’ll be with you on the big day, to make all the moments along the way special, to for all your breakdowns and catastrophes along the way. So why not treat them (and yourself) to some pre-nuptial pampering?  They’ll be standing in heels just as long as you are, so we say manicures and pedicures for all are in order.

Here are 6 creative  mani/pedi ideas to try for your Fall wedding (and if it falls during Spa Week you can the ones mentioned below $50.)

1. Pumpkin - Get in spirit of the season with pumpkins. May we suggest you try the Pumpkin Enzyme Manicure and Pedicure at The Salon & Spa at Saks.

2. Chocolate – Who doesn’t love chocolate? Make your toes edible with a Haute Chocolate Manicure and Pedicure including Cuticle Treatment from Carol’s Daughter.

3. Green Tea - Green tea is no longer for your Starbucks order but now it’s on your salon menu. This anti-oxidant provides many benefits, including anti-aging when applied directly to the skin. Experience Spa & Salon in New Jersey has a Green Tea Spa Pedicure.

4. Sea – Escape to the ocean with sea salts, which help remove dead skin. Try a Seascapes Spa Pedicure with Aromatherapy Sea Salts.

5. Organic – Going green was one of our 10 Hottest Spa Trends for Fall. Try an Organic Manicure and Pedicure with Cranberry Pomegranate, Pear Apple or Blueberry Soy Sugar Scrub. Or even go vegan with a Go Green Vegan Spa Pedicure with Eucalyptus Aromatherapy.

6. Shellac - Quickly becoming every woman’s go-to manicure, these babies last up to 3 weeks! Nails Naturally Hand & Foot Spa has them available in Chicago.

It’s True: Get Your Wedding Gown at Urban Outfitters INC.

A few things come to mind when you hear the words Urban Outfitters INC. Levi’s and brassy accessories are ranked pretty high on the list, kinky board games and shag carpets may be up there, but now you can add one more thing: bridal. Today the Urban Outfitters INC., the parent company of Urban Outfitters and Anthropology announced that they will be launching a new bridal store on Valentine’s Day. This left us scratching our heads and in a slight fit of fear of what grungy bride would attempt to stroll down the aisle in Urban Outfitters-like couture. Putting our apprehension to rest, we spotted a few images of the new line, BHLDN via WWD and the pieces are shockingly sweet, demure, classic, and dare we say even girly.
The designers kept in mind the growing change of ideals for traditional brides and weddings. “We’re confident that we’re filling in space that no one’s filling in. We’re offering a take that’s not out there. We have a lot of shorter dresses, lots of color and prints and no optic white dresses. Traditionally, people got married in churches. Now, they’re getting married on beaches and mountain tops. We’re building our assortment for the ultimate end use.” Hmm they must have caught wind of our trashing the dress trend post. Now that the concept is clear, would you consider an Urban Outfitters original for your big day?

Spa Week Daily Brides Get Down and Dirty

Last week for Wedding Wednesday we posted throwback tale of Trashing the Dress on our Facebook page. The wide sweeping trend involves the bride getting down and dirty in her wedding dress for a photo shoot… you’re never wearing it again anyway! Spa Week Daily readers Gina Monroe-Huff and Jennifer Bender McDonald chimed in as Trash The Dress veterans, so we had them send us some photos which we’re excited to feature here today. Both used a beach and water setting, but opted for different levels of “trashiness.” Take a look:

Gina let her inhibitions go with her husband to create beautiful photography that she can look back to as her happiest moments. The result: a crisp and clean trashing of the dress.

Jennifer’s trash dressing was a messy one, so much so that it got her featured on a local tv station. Watch the video clip here.

Do you have a Trash The Dress shoot or other cool wedding photos you’d like to share? Email michelle at spaweekmedia dot com with your photos, and maybe you’ll be in our Wedding Wednesday feature!
