Travel Tuesday: The Real Jersey Shore

You’d have to live under a rock not to know that the second season of Jersey Shore premieres this Thursday evening – the publicity tour for the wraiths who worship at the altar of GTL has been hard to miss. Whether you’re a fan or a foe of the show, we can probably all agree on one point: it’s a little unfair to the Jersey Shore, a vacation destination that can be lively, relaxing, glamorous, and – don’t tell Snooki – classy.

But why let Jersey Shore be your only glimpse of the Shore? Discover it for yourself in style at The Seaview Resort and Spa in Galloway, New Jersey with their Summer Spa Invitation.

Until September 30th, save up to 50% on their best available rates. Packages include deluxe accommodations for two, $100 spa card to be redeemed at the Red Door spa in the resort, and 2 pm late checkout. Package prices start at $199.

Come see how classy the Jersey Shore can be, and we can all but guarantee your situation will be free of The Situation.

Travel Tuesday: 10 Gorgeous Vistas of Hong Kong and Macau

One of our account managers just spent a week in Hong Kong and returned with a killer case of jetlag, a tan, and a gorgeous set of snaps. Here are 10 of the most beautiful vistas she enjoyed during her vacation!

  1. The Peak looks down over Victoria Harbor and Kowloon, offering gorgeous vistas of the city.
  2. Ferry from Hong Kong to Macau – as Erin put it, “it’s like mountains pop out of the ocean.”
  3.  The Venetian Hotel on Macau
  4. The Big Buddha – a towering monument just outside of Hong Kong. According to Erin, it was gorgeous, peaceful…and very, very hot.
  5. View from the top of the Big Buddha - Visitors undertaking the strenuous climb are well rewarded!
  6. The Stanley Market – This is a great area for dining and shopping, and offers this breathtaking landscape to boot.
  7. Repulse Bay Beach – an ideal place to enjoy the sunset!
  8. Ocean Park Aquarium - Because what’s a trip like this one if you don’t make new friends?
  9. Outdoor Meat Market – Much like the homonymous meet market, there are hearts on sale.
  10. Fish Markete - Erin says, “No one seemed fazed by the vendors smoking over their food!”

Happy Independence Day: 5 Reasons to Love Solo Travel

In honor of Independence Day, we want to talk about hitting the open road with just “me, myself, and I” along for company. If you haven’t previously considered solo travel, here are 5 reasons solo travel is amazing – so what are you waiting for, independent lady?

1. No compromises. Teresa Rodriguez Williamson advises, “The first mistake that many new solo travelers make is relying on the recommendations of others, while not considering what they personally want from their vacation.” Solicit recommendations from savvy friends – but ultimately make sure your vacation fulfills your heart’s desires above all else.

2. Courage.
If you’ve never traveled alone, the prospect may seem daunting. But pushing past the  fear can result in incredible, unparalleled experiences. If you can adjust your discomfort at the idea of not having a traveling partner, you’ll find that the only traveling partner you need is within. Freelance writer and caterer Amy Lynch recommends practicing by taking yourself out to a leisurely meal – no books, magazines, or phones allowed. Don’t apologize for enjoying your own company!

3. Meeting friends. Heading off without traveling companions in tow gives you the chance to find brand new ones along the way. You can begin your trip alone and end it with a passel (or trainful!) of new friends.

4. Meditation and contemplation. Whether you need to sort out thorny personal/professional matters or just need a trip to combat stress and get your head on straight, a trip alone can give you the jumpstart you  need to contemplate what’s pestering you – and figure out what to do about it.

5. Get to know yourself better. When you take yourself out of your comfort zone and your daily routine, you’ll find depths of resourcefulness, humor, and capability you didn’t know you had.

Visit Tango Diva for more great advice on solo travel, and take your newfound knowledge out for a spin on one of our fabulous Spa Week travel packages!
