Some refer to as Hollywood A-list Prom—which fashion designers will court which A-listers to wear their clothes and sit at their tables for the evening!? The red carpet promendade had all the answers at the 2010 Costume Institute Gala, which took place last night at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year the project, a homage to the “American Woman,” was hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Gap’s Creative Director Patrick Robinson and Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Now let’s get down to the arrivals. There was nary a fashion disappointment (other than Kristen Stewart, Mary J Blige, Katy Perry, Ms. Wintour—okay there were a few), and many stars showed in what seemed like a color coordinated parade dedicated to the spirit of American patriotism. The dominate colors of the night were mostly creams, bright cobalt blues, and splashes of red playing on the theme of the American Flag. Here’s our salute to the Red, White and Blue.

Best Red: Kerry Washington in Thakoon for the Gap and Camilla Belle in Jason Wu did red right–ultra-glamorous yet not overpowering.

Best White: Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren Collection and Emma Watson in Burberry looked equally sweet in their pure white numbers.

Best Blue: Blake Lively in Marchesa and Sienna Miller in Emilio Pucci killed it–detailed to sexy perfection!
