ith Spa Week® just around the corner, you might be dreaming of the pampering you’re going to treat yourself to in just a few short weeks – as well you should be! But even the most indulgent spa treatment comes with serious health benefits, and you can extend the detoxification and healing processes begun at your treatment by eating the right foods afterwards. Here’s how to do it:
Before, during, and after your meal, drunk plenty of water. Water is especially crucial after a massage, as it will help flush out the acids and toxins that were loosened during the treatment, but it’s a good idea to drink plenty of water anytime you’ve enjoyed a spa treatment.
Enjoy a meal made with garlic. The bulbs that make food spicy and bold lower blood pressure, reduce fat in the blood, and flush toxins and bacteria from the body. Try a light Asian-inspired meal after your spa treatment – garlic and ginger, common ingredients in Asian cooking, both stimulate good circulation. What better way to maintain the health effects of the spa treatment?
Finish your meal with the fresh fruit of your choice. Chock full of vitamins, healthy enzymes, and water, fruit is the perfect snack after a spa treatment (and in fact, if you’re a lucky spagoer you might have gotten to munch on fruit while at the spa!)
