Shake Up Your Makeup: St. Patty’s Day

Every year when March rolls around, there’s just one thing on our minds: St. Patrick’s Day! The 17th is just around the corner.

Now, we’ll be honest — we’re sick of seeing the same “Kiss Me I’m Irish” t-shirts and green tights parading around town year after year. We’ve got a new way for you to express your fondness for Irish culture and green beer – through your beauty routine! After all, Emerald Green is Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year… so why not start stocking up on the shade?

Of course there are endless great options for fun green nail polish (always a favorite) but have you considered fake lashes with green tips? What about a green lip color? Want to stand out at a music festival? Go for green crystals! Looking for a more subtle option? A green twistband is the way to go! See all of our picks below.

Try these green ideas to shake up your make up for St. Patrick’s Day!

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Makeup Junkie

Welcome to Spa Week Daily’s first Holiday Gift Guide of the season! We’re kicking it off with juicy finds for your favorite makeup junkie.

If you have a nail polish-hoarding daughter, mascara-obsessed girlfriend or a boss who never shows up without that inimitable glow, pay attention. (And hopefully you’ve already complimented your boss.) Below we’ve gathered a few of our current favorites—stocking stuffers and Secret Santa possibilities for any woman worth her weight in lipstick.

Michelle’s Makeup-Gifting Advice: The key to giving makeup is it either has to be something colorful and entertaining (like a huge sampling of flavored lip glosses) or something that you, yourself, love and can’t live without. BUT, I’m also all about surprises. If she’s that obsessed with makeup, encourage her to cleanse her poor makeup-slathered pores and GET A FACIAL. The better her skin is, the better her makeup will look. End of story. Our SPA Gift Cards are 20% off for the holidays, so you could give her one of those, and then she can choose from some of the best facial spas in the world! Just an idea. Here are some more.

Little Luxury Report: Posietint by Benefit

logo2
The Little Luxury: Posietint by Benefit Cosmetics

Rhymes with: Rosie Hint

Relationship Status: We’ve been very serious for almost a year now. When we’re not together I get so distraught that I lose color in my face.

Don’t get confused: It looks like nail polish… but it’s not.

So… what is it? A petal-pink tinted cheek and lip stain.

Say goodbye to: Blush. This gem of a beauty product has the potential to make your blush obsolete.

How it works: Brush a dot of Posietint onto your cheeks with the brush, then rub it in circles with your fingers until it gives you level of pink you desire. The lip tinting is secondary… for me, this Posietint is all about the rosy cheeks.

Why I’m head over heels in love: It lasts the ENTIRE day, and then some. It’s like pinching your cheeks to get the blood to rush to them in case of non-blush emergency… except the blood never rushes back.

Be careful: It’s a STAIN… so guess what. It stains. This means that once you brush it on, you can’t respond to a text or even stop for air before you rub it in. If you’re not quick enough you will get a line on your face. FOREVER!!! Well, till you wash your face.

A peculiar phenomenon: For reasons beyond explanation, every time I put it on, I get a small chip of metallic pink glitter on my cheek. You’re probably thinking I’m being dumb because obviously it’s the container chipping. I know. BUT WAIT— it’s ALWAYS, ONLY my left cheek. Never once on my right. I think it’s destiny of some sort. And pretty darn cute.

The price of tinted, tainted love: $28 at Sephora, but it’s nothing when you consider CPU (cost per use)… and how much you’ll save not reapplying blush.
