As you’ve probably read by now, the red carpet at the Golden Globes last night was dampened by rain. It didn’t put out the festivity, but like most mortals, the celebrities in attendance opted to bring umbrellas. Unlike most mortals, many celebrities enlisted others to hold their umbrellas for them.

But as it turns out, not all celebrities require a third arm to manage a parasol – Penelope Cruz won accolades by keeping it real and carrying her own umbrella.

Despite the downpour, we wanted to hand it to Drew Barrymore and Sandra Bullock for their significantly less hurricane’d-out looks this year than last year. They took two different beauty approaches:

Drew took no chances after last year’s minor catastrophe, and swept it far from her face.

Sandra took a braver approach, doing an almost identical hairstyle as last year, but proving she could nail it with more cohesive, structured waves in 2010.

The hypothesis: Better planning and Warren-Tricomi Finishing Cream. Weren’t the Oscars supposed to be low-key this year? I guess host Hugh Jackman and his colleagues didn’t get the memo. The stars were out in full force at last night’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles. From reliably stunning A-listers like Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman to newly arrived talents Taraji P. Henson and Viola Davis, there was certainly no shortage of mega-watt beauty.

In order to achieve the perfect red-carpet glow, even the most radiant of actors need some outside help. We bet LA-area spas, salons and stylists worked around the clock before the big night to make sure their clients looked their best. Much to the delight of confused women everywhere, He’s Just Not That Into You comes out in theatres this Friday. While I’m on the fence about actually coughing up the $12.75 to go see it, I am definitely into the awesome female ensemble. You’ve got ScarJo, Jennifer Aniston, the cute girl from Big Love and Jennifer Connelly (does anyone remember the movie, The Rocketeer she was in? Kudos if you do). Anyway the premiere was Monday in Los Angeles. Marta over at Talking Makeup wrote a fun post about the ladies’ red carpet looks. They all look absolutely gorgeous but I think Jennifer Connelly outshined them all. Wonder where she goes for facials…
