Spa-ing and Accessorizing: NYFW Indie Break Room

“Spa Week is the calm after the Fashion Week storm,” or so we’ve been told by many of our fashion bloggers and media friends. Oh, how thrilled we are to play this role in your lives! But, we are also happy to be able deliver a dose of that zen in the midst of the NYFW circus. On Monday, Spa Week welcomed over 150 of our favorite fashion faces as we co-hosted a bumping spa and beauty respite at the FashionIndie loft. We celebrated FashionIndie’s brand new site design (congrats!), the 1st day of October SpaWeek booking, and – in general – our free will to look and feel GAWGUS.

We brought two of our favorite spas along: Spa Martier painted bona fide works of art on guests’ fingertips, dousing long-lasting gel manicures in rhinestones, crazy patterns (my Blackjack manicure – coming soon!) and even donuts. Owner Yukie Natori spends half the year teaching on the other half of the world at her Empire NY Nail School of Tokyo.

Face to Face NYC pampered guests with massages and facials, getting out the knots and making it worthwhile for show-goers to make the unprecedented decision to remove an entire face of makeup for 20 minutes. It’s a spa with sex appeal, and owner Enrique Ramirez and his talented team certainly brought it to the loft.

In between pampering and beautifying, like 5 year olds girls with a trunk of Princess dress up gear, the party was also a fun little dress up party. Guests played with Armer by Tilly and William, designed by my sister Jessica Lapidos to “turn a tank top fall, to cut the curve on your shoulder sexy, and to keep small with you when you just need sleeves.” (Modeled by FashionIndie editor in chief Samantha Lim above.) Australian milliner Philomena Kwok brought Gagalicious fun, as guests tried on her hypnotizing headwear. (Designer at left below). Camille Zarsky brought an array of exotic skin clutches (modeled by Jessica with Tilly and William armer below).

To wash down the popchips, Pretzel Crisps and other snacks, party-goers kicked back with wine by Georges DuBoeuf, Svedka vodka, Yellowtail sparkling rosé, and Rihanna’s refreshing VitaCoco. Vitacare gum freshened our breath, and Elizabeth Grant gloss lit up our lips.

Now, what’s a fashion party without a little game of “who wore it best?” Spa Week scouted out hot style by hosting the Best Dressed Blogger Competition. The stakes are high: Check out the finalists and vote on your favorite – most likes wins a $100 Spa Week gift card!

Fashion Week Blogger Breakroom Spa Party Recap

Valentine’s Day may be over but the love is here to stay! Spa Week Daily co-hosted the LOOKBOOKS.com/Fashion Indie Blogger Breakroom on Monday, along with Kimmie Smith of Kitten Lounge, where over 200 bloggers came for a break in the Fashion Week circus of craziness to recharge their minds, bodies and phones.

This was no grab-your-giftbag-and-go affair… guests lingered for hours to get massaged, spray tanned, waxed, vajeweled, drunk…  there was SO much to do all day long! Let’s take a little tour of the highlights, shall we?

BEST DRESSED BLOGGER COMPETITION, sponsored by Spa Week Daily

Step… and repeat. Good looks, bloggers! The winner of this fierce competition gets a Spa Week Gift Card and a pair of Manolos, and YOU decide the winners. VOTE NOW! Who had the cutest outfit? (Feel free to vote for me even though I won’t accept the prize – yup thanks LOVE YA)

PAMPER PARTY! Services by Spa Merge and NK Salon

Massages, facials, manicures, eyebrow waxes… things bloggers crave, need and die for in between fashion shows. Although I did not experience Olga myself, talk on the town is that Spa Merge’s massage therapist was making miracles happen on the backs of the  bloggerati.

The COBRASNAKE Invasion

What’s a spa party without an out-of-whack LA photographer in a zebra Speedo getting spray tanned by B.Bronz and blinged out by Completely Bare, NYLON TV film crew in tow? You got nothin. Mark Hunter, AKA The Cobrasnake, gave us lots of love for the holiday. It’s Valentine’s Day, and he’s got a heart on.

THE BEST ACCESSORIES

Bloggers discovered two sumptuous accessory lines that I can’t wait to tell you about: 1, the brand new Koza is a London-based brand of travel bags, wallets, kimonos, kids clothes and accessories, inspired by The Mahabharata (a study of dharma, karma, and apparently a knack for it-bags). And then there was Louise Manna, a jewelry line that has mastered drapery and construction. Want. It. ALL.

POP goes the spa party

Every New York party goer knows it’s not a party without popchips, and Cocktail Colin‘s U’Luvka vodka cocktails are some of the city’s classiest creations.

Love to all our Valentines for partying with us! More pics on Facebook.

Pop Culture

If you take wholesome potatoes, apply heat and pressure to “pop” it into a chip, then season it with fine ingredients for a tasty, crispy, healthy snack – and let people taste it just once – you are a genius. I’m talking about Popchips, and I’m talking about the most delicious, addictive 100 calorie snack I’ve ever tasted. I’ve been inspired to put together this little list and can’t help but wonder: is there anybody (else) out there?

10 Signs You Might Need Popchip Rehab

1.    For your birthday your roommate gives you a bag of Popchips and a card… and you are thrilled.

2.    You purchase Popchips every time you go to Duane Reade, but the cashier always scans a bag of crumbs and kindly throws it away for you.

3.    You express audible disappointment when a bodega owner tells you they do not carry Popchips.

4.    @popchips is in your Twitter Trend Cloud.

5.    You don’t buy large bags of Popchips because you know you’d finish them all at once.

6.    Similarly, you don’t buy Popchips in bulk for fear that you’d never eat anything else.

7.    You frequently find yourself on “Popchip Missions,” hunting down bags at 2 in the afternoon and 2 in the morning alike.

8.    You call yourself a foodie but are perfectly content having Popchips as a snack while strolling around a city with unique food options on every corner.

9.    You spend considerable amounts of time wondering how a potato is “popped” (never fried! never baked!), and dream of one day visiting the Popchip factory.

10.    You receive a surprise, complementary basket of Popchips at your office on a Tuesday morning – with love from the Popchips Headquarters!

Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? Thank you Popchips!

If I ever end up in Popchip Rehab, I’ll be sure to give them my address there, too.

We want to know… if it’s not Popchips, is there a snack rehab where YOU belong? Comment below!
