This is NOT a Bomb Scare (It’s a Bomb Massage!)

After a few scary moments in Times Square over the past few weeks, you’ll be relieved to know that the “bomb” in question is made for the good of mankind, for healing and wellness and relaxation.

At 10:00 AM today, I live-streamed a Thai Bomb Massage at Enliven Body Works in New York City. It was absolutely sensational! She began with her hands, applying deep and thorough pressure, stimulating my circulation. The “bombs” (pictured and described below) were used in various ways: as a pair sliding up and down my body allowing the heat and medical qualities to penetrate deep into the skin and muscle. She also placed them on my back and other parts to sit still for long periods of time, leaving red circles to indicate they’d done their job. When it was over I felt explosive from head to toe; truly fulfilled. Bomb diggity!

The treatment one of our spa deals this month, available for a mere $70. Watch the recording below and learn what makes this 60 minute treatment tick.

Thai Bomb Massage is a traditional treatment from Thailand. Its focus is in balancing the Life energy or ‘Prana’ flowing in the body by stimulating the Sen Sib lines–the major channels in which the Prana flows. The herbs utilized are a traditional blend from the Wat Po temple in Bangkok. A steamed herbal ball is pressed along the lines (or acupressure zones) in a series of motions to clear any blockages and stimulate blood flow and lymphatic drainage.

The herb “bombs” are made from a variety of herbs found in great the nature of Thailand. The balls used at Enliven include: flax seed, lavender, cinnamon, clave, peppermint, eucalyptus leaves an ginger.

Spinning Elite: The PhysioRED Hits NYC

LIFT OFF! Meet: The PhysioRED

The PhysioRED at Dasha Wellness

Forget spinning class in a room of 40 sweaty spandex-wearing strangers and the echo of commands bouncing off the walls over a questionable choice of music. Dasha Wellness is the first and only place in NYC with the latest and greatest in spinning technology… a spinning machine fit for the White House circa 2024.

“Burn calories at the speed of light” is an enticing enough tagline, but the benefits of incorporating Infrared light into your workout can be tremendous. The technology can be beneficial for anyone, but it might be especially for you  if you’re overweight, sedentary, elderly, recovering from surgery, restricted from movement, suffering from resperatory problems, or just simply would much prefer watching a couple episodes of Sex and The City than gazing at that lycra-clad buttox on the bike in front of you.

Watch the PhysioRED video for the demo and the lowdown.

Dasha Wellness is offering the following 3 Spa Week treatments, and if you get any of them and mention this, they will let you test out The PhysioRED for free!
50 Min Makeover and Cosmetic Consultation
50 Min Facial with Collagen Eye Treatment
50 Min Acupuncture Session

Little Luxury Report: Carol’s Daughter Lemon and Rose Hand Cream

logo3
Today we invited Anne Fritz of The Jet Set Girls to tell us about one her favorite Little Luxuries. Turns out, it’s a gem from Carol’s Daughter, one of our New York Spa Week spas!

The Little Luxury: Carol’s Daughter Lemon and Rose Hand Cream

Relationship Status: It’s a bedtime essential right up there with brushing, removing my makeup and kissing my man good night. But in terms of luxury, it’s like taking a bubble bath without the soap and water.

Richer than Carlos Slim! Carol’s Daughter Lemon and Rose Hand Cream really does it best. I’ve tried just about every hand cream on the market and this is the only one that has as much staying power as the cellulite on my thighs.

Advice for new Carol’s Daughter Lemon and Rose Hand Cream users: A little bit goes a long way. It’s only sold in a 2 oz jar for a reason. On that note, you need to hide it from your roommate, kids, hubby, coworkers, etc.

Naturally… Like all Carol’s Daughter products, it’s paraben-free with no petroleum, mineral oil or artificial color.

Afternoon Tea for your Hands: The lemon and rose scent is sweet without being cloying, kind of like a cross between lemon pound cake and a cup of tea. I’ve never worn cotton gloves at night with regular cream, but I imagine the results are similar.

Good Things Come In Small Packages: Carolsdaughter.com, $12 for 2 oz.

Indulge in Carol’s Daughter during Spa Week 2010!
For extra decadence, visit the hidden Back Room Spa at the Harlem store and indulge in a 90 Minute Rose Petal Ritual, available for $50 during Spa Week. (Check their listing in our Spa Directory) After soaking your hands in rose petals, milk, coconut and tapioca which softens skin and cuticles, the manicurist slathers your hands with Lemon and Rose Hand Cream. Your hands will clap for joy.
