We’re Taking Over… From California to the New York Island

“This spa is your spa, this spa is my spa … This land was made for Spa-ing!” We hope you are ready for a geography lesson. Oh that’s right, we aren’t only crunching numbers with our #50dollartreaments but we are also expanding across the country.

On a mission to bring the healthy spa lifestyle to EVERYONE, we’ve worked to get more and more cities on board this for Spa Week Oct 10-16 than ever before. Below are 16 flourishing Spa Week states and our brand new small towns and cities in each, with some fun facts to get you better acquainted. Let the geography lesson begin… and tell us YOUR town or city below so we can work on getting them on board for next year if they aren’t yet. Spa for all!

California

The golden state is adding some more sunshine to Spa Week! First, we’ll take a stop at one of the hundreds of wineries at our disposal then finish by dipping our toes in the warm, sandy beaches and try to catch a glimpse of the celebs.

New Spa Week Towns: Calabasas, Claremont, Malibu, St. Helena

Connecticut

This may unofficially be the home of the “prepsters” with cardigan sweaters and boat shoes but there is also something for the historic buff. Relive your Jurassic Park memories by visiting one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America, Dinosaur State Park.

New Spa Week Towns: Orange, Rocky Hill

Colorado

Famous for it’s “Polar Bear Plunge.” We aren’t sure we want to participate in that form of hydrotherapy.

New Spa Week Town: Boulder

Florida

Home to the “Happiest Place on Earth,” we are sure Mickey Mouse would find his inner zen at these spas.

New Spa Week Towns: Howey-in-the-Hills, Naples

Georgia

We are taking a bite into the Georgia peach and expanding from “Peaches to the Beaches” in…

New Spa Week Town: Perry

Illinois

“Beuller…” John Hughes shot several of his famous 1980s cult classics in this state including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Roll call…

New Spa Week Towns: Brookfield, Darien, Gurnee, Highland Park, Hinsdale, Hoffman Estates, Lombard, Skokie, Tinley Park, Willowbrook, Winnetka

Indiana

Santa Claus, Indiana receives over one half million letters and requests at Christmas time.

New Spa Week Town: Carmel

Massachusetts

The first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in Plymouth in 1621.

New Spa Week Towns: Andover, Chesnut Hill, Peabody, Reading

Michigan

We are making a splash is this state known for its great water parks.

New Spa Week Towns: Commerce, Grand Rapids, Sterling Heights, Troy

Minnesota

Did you know that Minnesota has 90,000 miles of shoreline; more than California, Florida and Hawaii combined?! We sure didn’t.

New Spa Week Town: Maplewood

Missouri

Missouri Day is the third Wednesday in October. (Spa Week will be over by then, but we’ll celebrate anyway.)

New Spa Week Town: Frontenanc

New Hampshire

Vermont isn’t the only syrup-bearing state, New Hampshire is famous for being sappy. It takes approximately 40 gallons of sap to make approximately 1 gallon of maple syrup. That’s a lot of sap!

New Spa Week Towns: Hampton, Whitefield

New York

New York was the first state to require license plates on cars.

New Spa Week Towns: Mamaroneck, Pelham

Oklahoma

This state tickles our funny bone with Sooners like Kristin Chenoweth and SNL cast member, Bill Hader.

New Spa Week Town: Broken Arrow

Pennsylvania

Spa Week is taking over your campuses!

New Spa Week Towns: Ambler, Morrisville, State College

Virginia

Nicknamed the “Big Lick” (should we dare ask?).

New Spa Week Town: Roanoke!

Washington

America has this great state to thank for Starbucks – we know we can’t go without our coffee fix.

New Spa Week Town: Sammamish

Wisconsin

This state takes it love of cheese to another level with the signature “cheese head” foam hats.

New Spa Week Town: Green Lake

Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas, even Spa Week!

New Spa Week Town: New Braunfels

We hope to make it to every city… one day! Who run the world? SPA WEEK.

Custom-Made Massage at Elements Therapeutic Massage

When you think of a massage one would automatically assume that the experience would be just the most peaceful thing on earth. However, as the image above projects: not all massages are created equal. A bad massage can lack the necessary pressure, be too short, or not use the best techniques for your body. The owners of Elements Therapeautic Massage have avoided all the pitfalls by offering therapeutic, highly customized treatments.

Last year the chain performed over 400,000 massages, yet each one was treated differently. How so, you ask? The massage spa provides custom services by matching each client up with a therapist and the specific technique that’s best for your unique health. Therapeutic massages provide relief from back pain, reduce stress, increase circulation and much more.

The spa chain operates on a 4-level pressure system for each of their unique treatments, including the swedish massage which is best for relaxation and great for beginners, hot stone massages for easing muscle tension without deep pressure, the sports massage which is best for treating injuries, deep tissue massages which are best for chronically tight muscles, prenatal massage which helps decrease swelling and relieves aches during pregnancy, and the trigger point massage which works best for highly localized knots.

  • Level 1: gives a light and relaxing massage
  • Level 2: gives a medium pressure massage with no specific trigger point (commonly called knots) treatment
  • Level 3: gives a medium to deep pressure massage including some trigger point work
  • Level 4: very deep massage including trigger point (knots) work

Whether you consider your self a newbie or a massage pro, you’ll find your massage match at Elements. From April 11-17th, Elements Therapeutic Massage is bringing their expertise to the Spa Week Spring 2011 season at six different locations — five in Massachusetts and one in Illinois. The spa also accepts Spa Week Gift Cards. And don’t forget… they are 10% off through April 30th and you can earn 10% commission by telling your friends on Facebook. Sign up here.

Our products were imported from Japan and is not found anywhere I’ve seen in the city. Also we have the Nano Facial steamer which works on the same concept of emitting pure Nano steam to kill all bacteria on your face while we perform our new Nano Silver Facial. This facial combines silver with Nano Technology. The silver like gold is a precious metal and has tons of antioxidants which protect us against environmental damage from the outside elements. These minerals are great for the skin and help with anti aging. Lastly our Nano hair dryers do similar benefits for the hair with healthy properties and anti-frizz and straightening properties.”

MORE ON SPA TECH:

Here’s a video Michelle made last year about some of the high-tech spa skin technology out there at LING Skincare and NuVision MedSpa. (It was her first week working here, the videos have gotten a bit more high-tech since then too…)

5 Almost Free Things To Do This Weekend 09.02.10

So you packed your summer out, and just realized that Labor Day came out of nowhere!  Don’t worry – you can still get one more weekend of relaxation in.

Miss Cozy’s Tip of the Day: Labor Day was actually intended as a day of rest, so before you head to the beach or a BBQ, try to sleep in this weekend.  Recent studies have shown that catching up on your sleep can help reverse the effects of sleep deprivation. Getting enough sleep also helps you look more refreshed by reducing dark circles, under-eye puffiness, and bloodshot eyes.

(Check out CozyWallet.com for swank ways to save money and look good doing it)

If you have the chance, try to stop by one of these great events this weekend, brought to you by Miss Cozy:

Atlanta, Georgia – Have you looked at today’s date??  Its 9-02-10!  It shouldn’t go unnoticed!  So SweetWater Brewery has created a 90′s themed event to celebrate.  Hosted by Metromix and SweetWater, tonight the Peach Pit comes to Atlanta for an all out 90′s bash - to celebrate America’s favorite past time: 90210!  Go big or go home and dress up like Kelly, Steve, David, Donna, Brandon, Dylan, Valerie or Andrea, because everyone in costume will receive half off their entrance fee.  (You must be 21+ – Entrance is $8)  The theme is original 90210, so the more 90′s the better: Jean jackets, gelled hair and mini dresses are not only appropriate, they are highly encouraged.  Get some SweetWater goodies for the best dressed and best looking couple.  SweetWater Brewery is located at 195 Ottley Drive Northeast – Atlanta. For more information visit sweetwaterbrew.com

Phoenix, Arizona – Kick off Hispanic Heritage month this Saturday, September 4th 2010 from 11 am to 6 pm, as the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual 21st Fiesta de Septiembre. Valentine Street. For more information visit outwickenburgway.com

Boston, Massachusetts – If you’re in Boston this weekend, the one event to check out is their traditional Gloucester Schooner Festival.  This 26th annual schooner festival takes place in America’s oldest seaport. Running from September 3rd until September 6th, close to 50 ships are expected to participate in two days of racing, celebration and events, including Sunday’s “Mayor’s Race.” Sponsored by Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, enjoy a full schedule of activities from sailing, tours, fireworks display over Gloucester Harbor, a festival party, and more! Located at 654 Ferry Road Doylestown, PA 18901. For more information vist czestochowa.us

Columbus, Ohio – The mission of the Native American Indian Center is to preserve, protect and promote Native American culture, spirituality and philosophy.
