Lingerie Fashion Week Kicks Off August 1!

Be among the first to see lingerie’s spring/summer 2014 trends and styles at Lingerie Fashion Week.

The first ever Lingerie Week was held last winter. It got rave mentions in WWD and other prestigious publications. It’s returning this August and now it’s open to the public!

LingerieFW will be showing spring/summer ’14 fashions from August 1-3 at New York City’s Metropolitan Suite (13 West 18th Street, 2nd floor). They have teamed up with Bright Pink, a national non-profit organization that focuses on risk reduction of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. They also work with and give support to women who have a high risk for those diseases. 10% all the ticket sales from LingerieFW’s closing party and some of the fashion shows and presentations will be donated to Bright Pink.

Go RED! Heart Truth Red Dress Runway Show

Yesterday was the official kick-off for Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center! (#NYFW Survival Guide HERE) The first show I attended was not your usual long leg high fashion brigade–but rather a mix of glamorous celebs with household names dancing and shimmying down the runway in The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Runway Show.

This huge event is put on to raise awareness for heart disease. Did you know that heart disease is the number one cause of death for men and women in the United States? Also, heart disease can lead to other serious conditions including coronary artery disease, heart attacks, congestive heart failure and congenital heart disease. It’s amazing to see the heads of the fashion industry in New York c0ming together to make a real impact and bring awareness to the forefront. In the same mindset, we’re also donating 25 cents to the American Heart Association for everyone new Facebook like this month!

Dita Von Teese‘s fierce curves, Giuliana Rancic‘s full on dance down the runway, Patti LaBelle bursting out with wide, proud, open arms, and Natasha Bedingfield‘s performance at the end, sponsored by Diet Coke, the presenting sponsor of Red Dress Collection 2011. Each dress was made to fit each star’s individual style. Take a look:

And here’s a peek at Audrina Patridge, Gayle King, Giuliana Rancic and Camila Alves  backstage before the show—all the stars had their nails done by Dashing Diva.

Dita and crew clamored for glasses of Kim Crawford wine pre-show, the official wine sponsor of New York Fashion Week. According to the Kim Crawford team: Ann Curry, who, when asked about how she felt when walking the runway for the first time today, said “I was petrified. Totally petrified. But I just kept telling myself ’I am here to love you all, I am here to love you all.” We love you too, Ann Curry.

Here’s the video of the final walk:

And afterwards I got to meet everyone’s favorite darling on ice, Johnny Weir! Why he wasn’t in the show—bright red glittery ensemble, gliding down the runway gracefully on one skate—is beyond me.
