SPA WEEK Lia Sophia Giveaway…We Have a Winner!

lia-sophia-giveaway
Over the weekend, we here at SPA WEEK asked for your favorite little luxury and promised that in exchange for telling us, we’d enter you to win this little necklace and bracelet set…and you responded in droves. Almost like you wanted to win free jewelry. It was strange!

In order to qualify to win the jewelry, you had to respond to the post with your favorite luxury AND be following us on Twitter or be a fan of us on Facebook. We picked a winner at random from those respondents, and we are happy to announce it is…TBSG (@TBSG on Twitter)!

She said:

My favorite little luxury of late is a sugar scrub treatment in the shower every week or so. I LOVE the way my skin feels afterword!

Congrats! E-mail michelle at spaweekmedia dot com to claim your spangly prize…and for those of you who didn’t win, don’t despair! Check our our monthly giveaways for more amazing stuff to win this month. And check back frequently, as we’re all about giving things away!

Some of our other favorite little luxuries included:

My favorite “little luxury” is getting a hot stone pedicure with the latest hot polish color.–Joanne

My favorite luxury is getting into bed on a Sunday and watching all the shows on my DVR while giving myself a facial treatment!–Jeannette Krokus

My favorite little luxuries are my slippers and snuggie, it’s freezing today in NYC and I’m wearing both right now! –Sberkley

My favorite little luxury is spending time with my family over the holidays. It’s hard to be away from them all year so I treasure the time I have during the holiday season.–SCasarella

My little pleasure…getting to sleep in an extra few minutes during a teaching week. I know I should be up at 6AM, but getting up at 6:20 is oh….so nice.–stacykasse

My little luxuries are very little but worth the world to me. Sitting back and listening to an Elton John CD, making homemade Chai Tea and sipping it slowly while listening to Jill Scott and the final one is having a longer shower every Sunday morning …I usually limit shower time to save water but Sundays I let myself spend all the time I like in there!–annet

My favorite little luxury is my expensive shampoos and conditioners that I don’t share with my family (shhhhh)–happyenchilada

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Diamonds

diamond-banner

You know it looks great in rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more, but did you know that the diamond is a scientific all-star? Here are just 5 ways different scientific fields use our favorite sparkly gem

  1. Because they cut so well, diamonds are used to create blades for precision cutting tools
  2. Due to their conductive properties, diamonds are used as heat sinks to draw excess heat away from electronics
  3. Tiny diamonds are used in gears and bearings in small mechanical systems like your wristwatch
  4. They’re so good at buffing and shining that diamonds are used to polish other gems!
  5. Physicists use diamond anvil cells for ultra-high pressure  experiments

Who knew the sparkliest gem out there contributes so much to everyday life and general human knowledge?

Of course, you probably don’t want to wear an anvil cell or a watch bearing around your neck. Which is why the diamonds we chose for our Holiday Diamond Dream giveaway are lookers, not doers. The diamonds (there are 3) in the gorgeous pendant we’re giving away are 88-cut and 1.0 ctw – which means they’re cut to shine and sparkle like no other. And you get a matching 16-inch white gold chain to suspend them on.

What we’re saying is that there are science diamonds, and then there are dream diamonds. Go here to make this dream diamond your very own!
