Mom Deserves It! Christine Fernandez, We’re Sending You to The Spa

christine-badge-moment Spa Week Moms Gift Card
Between bottles, diapers, play dates, after-school activities and that whole “feeding them every day” thing… plus the blogging, working full-time jobs or running large companies… not to mention eating, sleeping and breathing… we know there’s no one in the world who deserves a day at the spa more than Mom.

We’ve got our Mom radar on. Send in your Mominations (scroll down), because we’ll be occasionally sending overworked, all-star mommies to the spa with $100 SPA WEEK® Gift Cards for some much needed relaxation, rejuvenation and ME-time.

Because in all honestly, if we weren’t insisting on relief from poopie surprises and math homework, what kind of spa company would we be?

We introduce to you our 2nd Mom Deserves It award recipient: Christine Fernandez

Blog: The IE Mommy

Twitter: @IEmommy

Motto: Faith, Family, Fashion

Mominated by: Tammy of A Mom In Red High Heels who sent in her Momination for Christine because: “She home schools her 6-year-old twins, is extremely active in our church and in her community, and is a busy blogger sharing about Faith, Family and Fashion. She would be super grateful for the needed pampering!”

A few questions for Christine…

When’s the last time you went to the spa? Got a massage?
The last time I went to a spa was a few months ago to get a gift certificate for someone else. The last time “I” actually went for myself… wow, so long I can’t even remember. Let’s say about a year, at least.

How do you feel about being mominated?
Opening my Momination email was the highlight of my day! I cannot wait! One of my New Year’s resolutions was to make it a point to spend some time on myself this year. I am not very diligent in taking “me” time. I cannot thank Tammy (A Mom in Red High Heels) enough for nominating. I am jumping in my seat as I type just thinking about my Spa trip!

What is your #1 thing you love to do to relax and take time for yourself?
I love to read. I create many book reviews at my blog. It’s is a passion of mine. I love getting lost in the characters and story line. I also love shopping (my husband says I love it too much). But my favorite thing…is a quiet, long, hot shower without little faces critiquing me through the shower door. Just to sneak away and allow my mind to think without interruption. Bliss!

Best Mom advice you ever got?
Hold yourself with pride. No matter if you have a stained shirt with baby formula or a lollipop stuck in your hair. Hold your head up. It changes the way others look at you and how you see yourself.

Best Mom advice you can give?
Don’t waste a minute of their childhood stressing over the little things. I had to learn this the hard way. Yes, the dishes will be there forever but their toddler years and childhood go too fast…especially with twins.

What thing did you find out by being a mom that nobody could tell you?
Wow! A lot! I learned:
That I would learn their personalities and voices so intimately that I know who they are by their giggle or with my eyes closed.
That I would some days feel so stressed that I think I will implode.
That I am stronger, wiser and mightier then a Super Hero in their eyes.
That I can never do anything more powerful or worthwhile then to raise up two little girls to love the Lord, their family and themselves.
That “I” am affecting the next generations.

How do you make healthy eating fun with the kids?
My girls are learning to love cooking, thanks to their daddy. So lately we have been teaching them how to cook…so now they want to make their own little lunches and are understanding that being healthy can be tasty. They even have their own blog with their cooking videos: Twin Kitchen (www.twinkitchen.com)

What’s family life like in a nutshell?
Life is crazy, noisy, joyful and all together amazing. In addition to being a blogger I am actively involved with Women and Kids’ ministries at church and I home school my children. While that may seem like a domestic diva… I am far from that. My days consist of blogging and chores in the morning, school during the day and family time at night. To say the days fly by would be putting it mildly. I am an organized list maker…and manage to get everything done with my trusted and loved day planner/calendar.

Best activity to do WITH the kids that relaxes you and the whole family?
My girls and I love to play board games and color or paint. If daddy is around we like to snuggle together and watch a movie.

We hope you enjoy your trip to the spa, Christine.

And to ALL the hard-working moms out there, don’t wait around! Send yourself to spa with one of our amazing Spa Steals and Deals. Ask anyone… you deserve this.
