Brand We Love: Miracle Skin Transformer

Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind

We love trying new skin and beauty products just as much of the next girl. But it’s not every day that a new line earns a rave review. This one did!

Cosmetic industry pro Sara McNamara’s Miracle Skin Transformer line features multi-tasking products designed to achieve results quickly and easily. After trying a few of the products, we can see why Nordstrom, Sephora, and HSN snatched up the line.

First, we tried the Lip Rewind, a “transforming serum-infused balm.” Our lips were dry when we applied it, but (kid you not) 5 seconds after applying it we looked in the mirror and they were full, smooth, glossy, and plump. The gloss contains peptides that double the amount of hyaluronic acid in lips, infusing them with moisture temporarily and helping to stimulate collagen production for long-lasting smoothness.

Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal

Next, we tried the Treat & Conceal concealer.

We love a good undereye concealer, but not the way some products fail to blend in with our skin, looking obvious. This one felt light and pillow-y in texture, and had an airbrush-like finish that was completely undetectable. If you’re a fan of natural-looking makeup, you’ll absolutely love this product.

The line ranges from $24-$78, and is available at any of the above locations or on miracleskintransformer.com.

For Chapped Lips: Sisley Phyto-Lip

Lips require near-constant doses of moisture to stay plump and supple through the winter months. If you wear lipstick or gloss, now’s the time to switch to a thick, moisturizing formula like this Sisley Phyto-Lip Gloss.

Why we love it: Aside from the flattering, perfect colors, this gloss contains grapeseed oil, shea butter, kukum butter, sunflower oil, vitamin E, and padina pavonica, a form of marine algae that increases hyaluronic acid production (hyaluronic acid helps your skin produce collagen, the material that keeps it soft, supple, and wrinkle-free).

For extra dry lips, wear a layer of petroleum jelly overnight to soften skin. In the morning, use a lip scrub (we love Sara Happ) if necessary to remove any extra flakes. Then, apply a thick, moisturizing gloss of your choice (the ingredients in the Sisley example above are good ones you should look for) to seal in moisture.

What’s your favorite gloss or balm? Some of our readers shared their favorites:

Taunya Thomas: Strawberry Honey by Bath & Body Works
Melissa Dean: Jane Iredale Lip Drink
Kelsey Dickens: Aveda Nourishmint in Sheer Saffron
…and the overwhelming audience favorite by far? That honor goes to Burt’s Bees! See all the rest of your favorite lip moisturizers here.

Desktop Beauty Inspiration: Pink

By Marissa Gold

“Women think black is the most flattering color, but they’re wrong. Pink adds a cosmetic-like radiance and warmth. Black drains the skin of color; pink delights the eye.” -Oscar de la Renta

If you’re a person who loves pink, then you understand why just the mere presence of these products is making my day.

From sparkly, fun pinks for a night out to practical, barely-there pinks to perfect your own skin, these products are my desktop beauty inspiration this week:

RODIN Olio Lusso Lip Balm – I’m a person who will spend ridiculous amounts of money on lip balm (don’t judge me). That being said, I expect a lot from them. This shea butter and argan oil formula is really moisturizing for chapped lips, and the subtle pink sheen and jasmine scent just make me happy.

LaLicious Sugar Kiss Everyday Everywhere Spray – The winning sugary combination of spicy vanilla and feminine rose never gets old. And this portable spray is indispensable during summers in NYC when it’s really just not possible to smell good come 5pm without a spritz like this.

mark. Eyeshadow in Luvstruck – A super-thin line of this hot pink shadow, traced just above your upper lashes, makes any eye color pop.

ILIA In My Room Lipstick – A creamy, petal-colored pink that’s just as versatile as a nude. Tip: Use it after the brand’s fabulous lip exfoliator for the softest lips ever.

Spa Foodie: Edible Sugar Lip Scrub

Although this recipe has little nutritional value, it will help to de-flake your pucker for a perfectly kissable pout. This DIY exfoliating sugar scrub will invigorate and plump your kisser for a lip-gloss ready look. It includes brown or white sugar as an exfoliant, honey for hydration, our beloved olive oil for added moisturizer and powdered cinnamon as a quick plumper. Along with a quick weekly rub down, don’t forget to drink plenty of water everyday, as it is necessary for lips to be hydrated for them to actually look full and juicy. Happy scrubbing!

Ingridents:

1/2 teaspoon of brown or white sugar
1/2 teaspoon of honey
1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
a pinch of powdered cinnamon

How to use:

  • Mix ingredients together in small bowl or even on the palm of your hand.
  • Using your index finger, rub on dry lips gently, in small circular motions.
  • Scrub for 2-3 minutes.
  • Wipe with a warm washcloth.
  • Apply chap stick/lip balm to lock in moisture.
  • Uses once-twice per week (Over exfoliating can cause damage to sensitive skin cells)
