In fact, Sephora.com already has a teaser up for the highly anticipated 2013 “Color of the Year” collection. This exciting announcement was just made last week, so we’re expecting the new products to start pouring in any second now. But if you want to be one of the first to master this trend, grab these beauty products that were a little bit ahead of their time…

Merkin Madness! Cindy Barshop Launches Feather & Fur Lady Parts

So, I ran into ex-Real Housewife of New York, completely bare spa owner Cindy Barshop in the elevator yesterday, NBD or anything. We’ve actually been sharing the same office building since November – who knew? Well, as fate would have it, Cindy, the mastermind behind Vajeweling (Vajazzling) and Vatooing, told me about her new product that literally just launched and got picked up in TMZ and Gawker yesterday. Wait for it… wait for it… The Foxy Bikini.

It’s winter and your mons pubis is surely getting chilly, why not treat it like a real person and wrap it in a warm, pretty fox fur… pubic wig? As Cindy says, beauty follows fashion and fox is all over the runway for pre-fall, from Missoni’s sleeveless vest with beaver and fox chevroned fur trim (below, left) to Marc Jacob’s mock-croc bomber jacket with fox fur trim (below, right). Once again, Cindy is ahead of the curve and has created the newest merkin craze.

Missoni Pre-Fall 2012Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

At the top, in pink, is the Foxy Bikini – made from real fox fur, only $225. It comes in a variety of colors, lasts about 3-5 days, even through showers, working out and working out (wink, wink). And the show-stopper? The multi-colored lady parts decoration below is the Carnivale Bikini, $195, to decorate your hoo-ha just in time for Mardi Gras with bright feathers in your choice of colors.

Stay tuned for more on the most glamorous merkins on earth – we are sooo not done here! (Hint hint: at completely bare filming today…)

UPDATE: Click to see how it’s all done in our exclusive MERKIN VIDEO!

7 Summer Beauty Trends from Allure’s Editor-at-Large

At the Carefree & Spa Week Party on June 20th, Allure Magazine Editor-at-Large Abbie Kozolchyk spoke on behalf of the mag and shared some summer beauty tips, trends and ideas with the lucky guests.

Our 7 Favorite Beauty Trends from Abbie:

Side Braid: Pull back wavy hair and shift it over to one side of your neck, letting face-framing pieces fall free. The undone look has been seen on the likes of Rihanna and Blake Lively.

Pretty Pony: Lightly tease the section of hair between the temples to add a little height, then secure hair into a tight ponytail just below the center of the head. (Abbie says any pony that sits higher than your ears will make you look like a high school cheerleader, so beware.) Wrap a one-inch section of hair around the base of the ponytail to disguise the hair elastic.

Half-Up/Half-Down: Part hair naturally and bring a 2-in section of hair from above each ear to the middle of the back of your head and secure with a clear elastic band. Soft, romantic and chi like Allure’s July cover girl, Fergie.

Bronzer, Everywhere: Brighten lids and add a little depth and definition with your usual facial bronzer. Dip a shadow brush in your regular facial bronzer, swipe it over your lids up to your crease, and you’re done.

Orange Lip Gloss: It’s a fresh, summery alternative to classic red that’s easier to wear than lipstick. (Nars Lipgloss in Wonder)

Teal Polish: A bright shade of teal has the same pop-art feel as fluorescent shades without being as in-your-face. Plus, this shade really pops with a golden tan (real or fake). (Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Fairy Teal)

Lip Stain: Match a cool berry or a sheer pink shade with flavored lip balm with spf30 for a protected look that lasts all day and that you don’t have to think about.

New Beauty Trend: When Lips Turn To Violence

There was a period of time—a very, very long one—when nail art was extremely tacky. In 2004 if you asked me if I wanted leopard nails or stripes, that’d be a big NO.

Now in 2011, there isn’t much I wouldn’t get done to my nails if I had the patience, time and money. Build miniature houses and plant miniature gardens in the miniature yards on my nails—let’s go!

Point is—it’s not just me. As a society we’ve gotten bored with beauty, and as a result, quite kitschy. Next stop (oh you smarty pants, how did you guess??)… Your kisser. See above as I pose with Stephanie and Kelly rocking the latest questionable, yet undeniably fun beauty craze, Violent Lips.

Violent Lips are temporary lip tattoos that you apply with a wet sponge or paper towel, with the same technique and a similar level of enthusiasm as you did your Barbie tattoos at age five.

With 12 patterns to choose from and 4 (glitter ones!) coming soon, deciding on your tat is the first part of the fun. Stephanie chose The Pink Polka to match her Connecticut hair-ribbon-and-white-picket-fenced soul, I chose The Leopard to match my shirt, and Kelly chose red lipstick for her upper lip to match The Rainbow bottom lip when she accidentally pulled off the paper instead of the plastic on her top Violent Lip. (It’s been a while since Barbie has graced her forehead.)

Before you apply, you have to cut the tattoos to match the shape of your lips. Here’s the video tutorial, and here are 11 tips to applying Violent Lips provided by the company, but it’s not rocket science. Make sure you use a lot of water and press it on really firmly, end to end. I suggest smiling ever so slightly (while your mouth is open wide) as you put it on so that you have a little flexibility once it’s on.

And now: The fun part. Cameras ready, pucker up, and strike a pose or ten! They really look sensational on – the whole Spa Week office was buzzing with a newfound love for Violence. Stunning and vibrant and so simple to do. And, I quote the only straight man in our office: “OMG, that is so cool.”

So, I know what you’re thinking. How long do these last? Are they comfortable? And the answers are, truthfully, not that long, and not really. It’s not a set it and forget it sort of thing – they start chipping if you start talking too soon or too much (although in fairness I think I could get better at applying them with some practice). It also doesn’t lend itself to eating, drinking (use a straw if you do) or kissing. It’s one of those things you are constantly thinking about and wanting to touch with your tongue, just to see how it’s doing.

Kelly and Stephanie removed theirs after the photo, but I let mine run its course for a couple hours. I wiped it off with a wet paper towel at my desk, but it still didn’t come off. Now, hours later after some rubbing to remove the final pieces, I’m left with a few random black spots. More scrubbing later. Sexy, I know.

So, they definitely aren’t perfect, but I will tell you they are cool enough that I would recommend you try them for a party in the near future. I myself will be rocking them again (outside the office) for sure – they make such a statement! With a little practice and getting used to, this trend could prove to have some real staying power.

Violent Lips range from $9.95 – $15.95 for a pack of three. Check out all your options.

PS, because my sister Jessica and I are in the same industry (blogging is an industry, right?) and share one too many genes, I was not surprised that she popped this out yesterday, one day before I’d planned to. Check out Jessica and the writer Amanda from FashionIndie looking hot in their Violent Lips:
