1. The Whirling Blog

Gene-Manuel Whirling, artist and editor of The Whirling Blog, decided one day to stop daydreaming and start living. He found that one of the best parts of living was sharing experiences with others. In Gene’s world, Mondays are a fresh start, Fridays are a day for fun and sharing, and every day is a reminder to love yourself (you can subscribe to his Daily <3 Reminders for the full Whirling experience). When you share in Gene’s beautiful world, you leave a little bit and take a whole lot with you. Yesterday we asked Gene-Manuel if he had a message specifically for Spa Week Daily readers, and he did!

“You deserve the very best that life has to offer. Whether that involves a luxurious spa treatment, the perfect vacation spot, or just downtime with a loved one, it’s alright to take care of yourself! When you are JOY-FULL, you radiate that joy out into the Universe and everyone benefits. Love who you are.”

The Daily Love blends wisdom with style and delivers messages for a fast paced lifestyle, for insight and mentoring on the go. #TDL

“We at The Daily Love refer to the Universe as The Uni-verse. Why is this? We like to point out the obvious beauty in this simple word. Uni = one. Verse = song. We believe that underlying and orchestrating this One Song is a creative and benevolent Presence that has our best interest in mind.”

______

Jacob Frommer , the author of Older Brother’s Advice, has 2 older brothers – the inspiration behind all his musings. Which mean his sister Rebecca, 25, has 2 older brothers and 1 younger one to be inspired by. To dig a little deeper, I got the little sister scoop and asked Rebecca: What was the best advice YOU ever got from your brothers?

Judah, 28 - Lead by example. He is so even keeled, very rational, and patient. He puts family first and always picks up my phone calls. He’s just one of those people that always seems to have the answers.

Sam, 26 - Age is nothing but a number. Friends, girlfriends, boyfriends whoever. He lets people in, and bonds with EVERYONE.

Jacob, 22 – Forge your own path. DO NOT CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT YOU. This kid is not afraid to wear a woman’s vest and make it look good. Commit to a career in beer brewing while everyone expects him to go into finance. and write a blogpost, that he knoooows his mother is gonna read that says “Dont send your girlfriend texts of your ____”.

What’s the best advice you ever got from a sibling?

Welcome to the very first Mom Deserves It! award.

Between bottles, diapers, play dates, after-school activities and that whole “feeding them every day” thing… plus the blogging, working full-time jobs or running large companies… not to mention eating, sleeping and breathing… we know there’s no one in the world who deserves a day at the spa more than Mom.

We’ve got our mom radar on. Send in your mominations (scroll down), because we’ll be sending overworked, all-star, miracle mommies to the spa with $100 SPA WEEK® Gift Cards for some much needed relaxation, rejuvenation and ME-time.

Because in all honestly, if we weren’t insisting on relief from poopie surprises and math homework, what kind of spa company would we be?

We are proud to announce our very first honoree: Farah Silver

Farah with Max, 5, and Aileen, 7 months

Blog: Momfinds.com

Twitter: @MomFinds

Motto: Feed. Nap. Shop. Repeat.

Mominated by: Rebekah Rombom, editor at SheFinds.com, who wakes up at 6 am East Coast time to see Farah online too… still working on the West Coast. (That’s 3 am! Now, how long after that until Aileen wakes up?)

Why she deserves it: Lack of sleep is hazardous to your health. While there’s no substitute for a good night’s sleep, there’s some good news for Farah and all the other sleep-deprived moms out there: A massage has so many of the same fantastic health benefits as a good night’s sleep… from reducing stress, enhancing your immunity,  making you smarter and more alert, and making you happier overall.

A Few Questions For Farah…

What is your #1 thing you love to do to relax and take time for yourself?
I TiVo my favorite shows and pick one night to watch them all.  There’s nothing like a marathon of Top Chef, Project Runway, Modern Family, The Office and Community without interruption and commercials.

When’s the last time you went to the spa? Got a massage?
Almost a year since I’ve been to the spa.  It’s been a few YEARS since I got a massage!

Best Mom advice you ever got?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.  If there are dishes in the sink, it’s not the end of the world.

Best Mom advice you can give?
Everything is temporary.

Best activity to do WITH the kids that relaxes you and the whole family?

We like to take little trips here and there.  This past year we did a few mini getaways to Carlsbad for Legoland, Ventura and Hawaii.  It’s nice to get away from the phones, TVs and computers and just hang out as a family.  And we love to bake!

Farah, enjoy your well-deserved trip to the spa, and for goodness sake… get some sleep!
