YES YOU DID! Patricia Moreno’s Daily Affirmations Challenge: Completed

Sunday marked the last day of Empowered Living Expert Patricia Moreno’s YES I CAN! Daily Affirmations Challenge. Patricia, founder of The intenSati Method, challenged us to do one of the most important things we can do: be nice to ourselves. She urged us to get up every day and say positive affirmations out loud. It was that simple, so why is this so challenging?

Patricia’s challenge helped me take my already-positive outlook on life to the next level. It’s easy to point out all the things that are not perfect in your life, but complaining won’t make you thinner, more confident or change the situation you are in. More than ever lately, thanks to Patricia’s Challenge (and my friend Michelle who introduced me to Patricia and the intenSati phenomenon), I’ve come to the realization that I can accept myself as “perfect” just as I am. I’ve always made goals but I had never made a goal to just be me.

Everything can completely change in a day so if you don’t appreciate who you are and what you have today, you may miss out on letting the one person who most needs to hear that you love them – yourself. After getting up each day and telling myself the things I may have not usually said out loud, but they were the things I needed to hear, I started to feel more empowered. They became truths sewn into my being. Now day by day,  I see all the possibilities of positivity and all of the possibilities of being me. I am in control. And to think I could heal my mind with my own mind all along! What I give is what I get. And  the more I give myself, the more I love myself.

On the last day of the Challenge, Patricia hosted a record-breaking intenSati class aboard the USS Intrepid; over 150 of her intenSati Warriors dressed in bright, happy colors and shouted affirmations from the landmark vessel, echoing across the Hudson River. Imagine the collective empowerment felt with everyone – as ONE – getting a full body workout in tandem with affirmations such as:

YES I CAN!
Yes I am ready!
I will act now
I challenge myself to reach for something better
All negative thoughts STOP right now!
I set my self free with positivity!
I am a magnet for success I now lay my fears to rest
I am activating excellence
I am divine light
I have what it takes, I am perfect in every way

While the challenge is over, this is one challenge that we hope you continue to pursue. Thank you to all those who shared and expressed your favorite of Patricia’s affirmations and we were truly inspired by the participants who shared their own affirmations and motivators.

Rob C: Focus creates perfection.

Lisa D: Focusing on the positives! My mother and I keeping each other accountable and are making sure we don’t get negative!

Maria F: think as if and i become…

Mara H: I am a magnet for success I now lay my fears to rest

Janine M: I appreciate this day, I am grateful in every way!

Karissa B: “I choose to know the truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is.” Wow! It’s amazing how quickly affirmations start working their magic.

Geri D: “Every day, in a very true way, I co-create my reality.” I put this affirmation on my bathroom mirror to remind me how I can change daily. I lost 106 pounds but then had a serious injury and have just undergone knee replacement. This affirmation helps me every day get back on track and work towards my goals.

And now to award the winner of the YES I CAN! Challenge with a $50 Spa & Wellness Gift Cards

Cassandra M: I breathe in Positivity and I breathe out Negativity! Every step is a victory and every fall is a lesson. I appreciate this day, I am grateful in every way!

Thank you for all sharing your words of self-love and don’t forget to keep telling them to yourself!

16 Rules To Living Empowered – By Patricia Moreno

“You are a powerful force for positive change.” Patricia Moreno, Spa Week’s Empowered Living Expert and founder of the unique motivational workout intenSati, is a bottomless barrel of inspiration. Well, a very tall, physically fit, energetic and smiley barrel.

Patricia has already given you a long list of things you should say EVERY DAY in order to feel and live empowered in her YES I CAN! Daily Affirmations Challenge, starting with: Yes I am. Yes I will. Yes I am ready. Making progress is my number 1 priority. I choose to focus on the good I desire. I am done complaining. I am ready to live a life of love. I am willing to succeed I have all I need. All I need is within me now. Have you joined the challenge?

Just like every single word in Patricia Moreno’s challenge – and intenSati classes – inspire me, EVERY SINGLE word on this list she created for Spa Week Daily is exactly what I needed to hear in this stage of my life. I hope you feel the same. Now go and live empowered… starting by saying YES! to life exactly as it is.

YES I CAN! Patricia Moreno’s Daily Affirmations Challenge

“Every day, in a very true way, I co-create my reality.”

– The opening affirmation of every intenSati class

Your mind is an all-powerful tool. You can choose to smile, not complain. You can kiss goodbye negative energy and embrace the positive. You choose whether to be thankful for what you have, or spiteful for what you don’t. You and only you can CHOOSE to be confident, optimistic, opportunistic, successful and happy.

I’m so excited to introduce to you the internationally acclaimed Patricia Moreno, Spa Week’s Empowered Living Expert, for this potentially life-changing next challenge. Patricia is the brains behind a motivational workout called intenSati, which combines physical exercise (a mash-up of martial arts, dance and yoga) with positive affirmations. She’s gained a tremendous following in New York City. These ‘”Sati Warriors” have been so enlightened by Patricia, they go on her spiritual retreats, they wear tees that proclaim “I love my life,” they have flash mobs, and they smile at strangers. By repeating affirmations in class to the beat of a workout, students begin to internalize them and connect them to their everyday lives.

I know this because I’ve experienced intenSati myself, but more so through the 180 degree transformation my best friend Michelle made after discovering intenSati. She blogged about it here back in July: intenSati: The Workout That Changed My Life.

Are you ready for CHALLENGE #11?

Here’s what to do:

Pledge to say – OUT LOUD – one or more of Patricia’s affirmations every day. Here’s her list of favorite intenSati affirmations to choose from:

with love I choose what I think, say and do
I now allow all good to come to me
What I give is what I get
When I honor myself the world shifts around me
I choose to know the truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is

Mari Winsor’s Early Bird Challenge: Completed!

Oh mornings, how I loathe thee. Let me count the ways. One: you always creep in through my bedroom windows ten-ish minutes before my alarm goes off, so I am stuck under the covers, dreading the alarm in a don’t-wanna-get-up-yet-limbo. Two: you wake me up on the weekends (my only days to sleep in) at the same ungodly time I normally have to wake up for work during the week. Three: you come around, pulling on my heartstrings, with promises of pancakes and coffee, and try to fool me into feeling like I am missing out on the day when I wake up way past noon. I am the queen of the snooze button and no one can tell me otherwise.

That was me, until I took Mari Winsor’s Early Bird Challenge. What a world of difference 20 minutes can make every morning. For the past 10 days, I took the challenge seriously and refused to hit snooze. Sure, the first couple of days I buried my head in the pillow and procrastinated getting up, but the extra time gave me the chance to make a healthy breakfast, pack my gym bag without forgetting anything (socks!) and even blow dry my hair before work. I left the house every day on time and didn’t have to speed walk to the subway. That alone reduced so much stress from my mornings, I can’t even tell you. On the Facebook Event page, lots of you shared your courageous efforts to rise and shine with smiles on your faces. Even though some of the time they were forced smiles (a lot of you admitted this was really hard and I agree!), many of you got through this 10 day battle with a little help from friends and family. And that takes me to the two recipients of a $50 Spa & Wellness Gift Card by Spa Week…

We’re sending two reformed sleeping beauties to the spa…

But first, thank you to all those who shared and expressed your struggles and hopes, successes and setbacks. And now to award each of the two Early Bird Challenge participants with one $50 Spa & Wellness Gift Card each…

Patty and Lisa D! This mother-daughter duo decided to take Mari’s Challenge together, even though they were both admittedly not morning people (it runs in the family). But together they supported each other and experienced those extra 20 minutes gained, together. Well done ladies!

Patty: My daughter and I both decided to take the challenge together. I’m not a morning person but I made sure not to hit snooze today. The most difficult part was just motivating myself to get up and move. Once I was up I felt good. I spent the extra time having an relaxing breakfast and reading a book

Lisa: My mom and I did this one together. While she was I fan…me, not so much. I’m not a morning person at all. So getting up without my normal snooze was difficult.

We’re glad you enjoyed the am together – or at least tried to. Thank you for sharing.

Winners, please contact daily(at)spaweekmedia(dot)com within 3 business days to redeem your prize. We can’t wait to hear from a more fierce and fabulous you!

Seize the Day! Join Mari Winsor’s Early Bird Challenge

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Carpe Diem” – Horace

“The early bird catches the worm.” – John Ray

The crack of dawn. The AM. First light. Daybreak. Sunrise. Sunup. The wee hours. The morning. Whatever you call it, most people feel very, very strongly about it. No one ever feels just “eh” about the morning; it’s love or loathe. According to basic physiology, our biological clocks are programmed to be awake during the day and sleep at night.  Cortisol (stress hormone) begins to increase in the morning as the sun rises (waking us up) and decreases through the evening until we fall asleep.  Melatonin (sleep hormone) does the opposite. As cortisol drops in the evening, Melatonin begins to rise.  Disruption in this cycle can affect other hormones which can lead to issues with maintaining and sustaining optimal function. That’s why we’ve joined forces with another nationally recognized health expert to to help you seize the day and your health!

Are you ready for CHALLENGE #10?

Here’s what to do:

Pledge to wake up 20 minutes earlier than you normally do, every day for 10 days. Don’t hit the snooze button! It’s going to take some dicipline and some planning ahead but, you can do it… and you’ll feel better for it, too.

When:

From Monday, February 20th to Wednesday, February 29th

Who says?

Pilates Expert Mari Winsor, creator of Winsor Pilates, is widely credited with popularizing Pilates and making this once-obscure workout accessible to the public. With a DVD empire and two Winsor Pilates studios, Mari has a continuous roster of A-list clients including Drew Barrymore, Elizabeth Berkeley, Jewel, Melanie Griffith, Meg Ryan, Sharon Stone, Marisa Tomei and Dita Von Teese to name a few. She credits her success in part to a balanced lifestyle, including regular exercise, eating healthy and a consistent sleep schedule.

Why:

Not only does Mari preach healthy sleep habits to her swarms of celebrity and non-celebrity clients alike, but in 2010, Harvard biologist Christophe Randler discovered that early birds are in general way healthier than night-owls. Randler’s study found that early risers are more proactive. They were more likely to identify long-range goals and take charge in the planning and execution of day-to-day tasks. Early risers who report using their morning quiet time for organization and goal-setting were able to sensibly and realistically plan out their schedules weeks in advance, making them more time efficient and giving them the opportunity to make time for things they wouldn’t normal be able to do, like spending time with family or taking relaxing vacations. Randler’s research also revealed that “morning people” are more likely to anticipate problems and minimize them efficiently, which leads to more success in their business and personal lives.
Waking up early means you’ll have to tweak your schedule to go to bed earlier, which in turn means you’ll get a better sleep, helping your body heal faster. Sleep experts say the more meaningful and restorative sleep you get, the more your body has time to mend and repair itself, making you less prone to aches and pains.

And for all you night-owl, nocturnal, all-nighters out there, when you stay awake at night you’re fighting your body’s natural circadian rhythms along with it’s ability to hormonally regulate itself. This can cause serious detrimental effects on your health and well-being.

What’s in it for me? (The early bird gets the spa, too!)

Besides feeling more rested, restored and rejuvenated, just by RSVPing to Mari’s challenge event on Facebook and sharing your success stories or struggles, you’ll be automatically entered to win a $50 Spa & Wellness Gift Card by Spa Week.
