Who knew heaven was a place in Montclair, New Jersey? Blogger extraordinaire and Glam Damn It editrix Dani sure didn’t – until she paid a visit to the Woodhouse Day Spa for the Chakra Aromatherapy Massage, which was offered at the very angelic price of $50 during Spa Week®.
As Woodhouse puts it, “Chakras serve as junction points between the body and mind. This balancing massage incorporates Chakra stones and essential oils to align and ground the body and senses. Dry brushing stimulates the skin and circulation, and nurturing essential oils, when applied along energy pathways, reflex points and Chakras, nurture and center. Light, rhythmic massage eases stress and minimizes adrenal fatigue.”
Dani found that not only did she emerge renewed, relaxed, and stress-free – she came out with a brand-new favorite spa treatment. Read all about the earthly paradise she discovered, and book a Chakra Aromatherapy massage of your own!
Spa Madness! is still alive in kicking. We sent Migdalia of Latina on a Mission to Bruno Salon & Spa in Brooklyn, New York to experience an array of relaxing treatments. Migdalia quickly discovered that it’s not about the size or how well-known a spa is, but rather the quality of the treatments and the personal touch that each customer receives. Migdalia’s lengthy spa day began with an Electro-Lymphatic Drainage Therapy which can strengthen the immune system in 8 to 10 treatments. She then indulged in a relaxing mini-facial, a wash and style at the salon, and finished it off with a Gel Wrap Manicure. Can’t get any better than full body pampering. Read in-depth about her treatments and spa experience HERE.
Spa Week might be over but you can still treat yourself to a relaxing spa day for a great price. Click to check out our monthly spa deals.
For Spa Madness! we sent Louise of Mom Start to Advance Skin Care and Body Solutions in Bellvue, Washington to get a microdermabrasion treatment. Microdermabrasion is a mini-treatment of the skin being sandblasted with aluminium crystals to get rid of dead skins cells. Dead skins cells lead to enlarged pores making it easy for dirt to seep in.
For a busy mom, facials and treatments are often not even on the list of things to do, but we made it happen for Louise.
Now, make it happen for your own mom! With Mother’s Day coming up, the words “Mom Start” might be triggering thoughts of how you have not yet started looking for a gift. Maybe? It’s okay. If you think your mom would enjoy getting rid of dead skin cells, wrinkles, stress, or those achy knots in her back—or perhaps all of the above—a Spa Week Gift Card is the perfect way to start.

For many, the saying “don’t knock it until you try it” does not apply when it comes to Botox. We’ve heard the horror stories and witnessed the debatable results when celebs go overboard like 10 procedures in one day, Heidi-style, but done properly and within reason, Botox has proven to be a great, successful “lift” for the average woman. We sent Rosanne of Beyond, Beauty Basics to SmoothMED for a ten minute Non-Surgical Eyebrow Lift, and also to fill in some of the lines on her forehead. She admits that in her younger years she was anything but kind to her skin, ignoring warnings from mom, too much tanning, and other bad habits.
At her consultation Dr. Berdy, owner and medical director explained the truth about Botox:
Botox is the brand name that represents the protein (botulinum toxin) that is produced by a bacteria known as Clostridium Botulinum. In large doses, this protein causes “Botulism,” a paralytic illness most often seen in cases of food poisoning. It was discovered however; that in small dosages, this protein could be used in cosmetic medicine to treat facial creases, folds and wrinkles. Botox can also be used in non-cosmetic medicine to treat excessive underarm sweating, migraine headaches, chronic pain, esophagus problems, lazy eye syndrome and in some cases, severe clinical depression due to aesthetic and body image distortion mental disorders.
The opportunity to erase years of negligence came knocking and she went for it. Click HERE to read her review of the final results and check the video below.
Also, if you recall, last week during Spa Week Michelle also tried out the Botox Brow Lift at SmoothMED, and she woke up this morning, 6 days later, and noticed the difference. Dr. Berdy had said it would take 5-7 days. Take a look at the after (click HERE for the before and the full procedure… can you notice a difference? Would you try it yourself?
Toronto is one of Spa Week’s best kept secrets. We sent the Canadian Beauty, Henna Singh to the Elmwood Spa to experience the Li’tya Binhumarri Body Ritual treament. The euphoric treatment is a full body scrub with Australian desert salts and essential oils, a warm steam shower and a Miji Kodo Massage to follow. When you read this review you’ll be ready to pack your bags for a weekend stay at “Canada’s Favorite Urban Oasis.”
The spa is four levels of service equipped with whirlpools, steam rooms that revive and relax and you’ll even be treated to a filling spa lunch at the restaraunt on the terrace. With all those eminities we’re definitely sold, but you can read Henna’s review here.
