Over her lifetime, a woman has a 1 in 71 risk of developing Ovarian Cancer, and the American Cancer Society predicts that 15,500 women in America will die from the disease in 2012 alone. Survival rates for Ovarian Cancer are much lower than that of other cancers affecting women, and we all want to do our part to help in any way we can.
Since September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, some companies are doing their part to raise awareness and money through sales of their products. You can feel extra good about purchasing any of these fab beauty buys that give back this month:
Laura Mercier launched the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund this month, which aims to raise both awareness and funds to be donated to research. 100% of the profits from both the Bonne Mine palette and Rose Hope Lip Glacé will go to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund, and you can also donate directly online.
The Color Club is generously donating 50% of proceeds from its OCRF shades, OCRF Teal and OCRF Glitter, for the entire year! If you purchase some polish and then sport one of these two beautiful shades on your nails, you’ll be simultaneously giving back and raising awareness for the cause.
Shop online this month at major beauty retailers like Sephora, Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply and The Body Shop, and anywhere from a 2.5-5% contribution is made to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. See all of the participating retailers here.
Spread the word!
