Lose Weight By Accident: Are you eating past 8 pm?

Guest contributor: Kavita Jhaveri-Patel

Fun Fat Fact: Sumo wrestlers gain weight by eating late at night.

Even health coaches every now and then have the impulse to want to lose a couple of lbs, so how do I do it, and how quickly does it work? Well, right now I am getting ready to attend a bachlorette party in St. Martin the first weekend in March. I am so excited because it is my BFFs bach, but also because I am so ready to get out of the snow and to warm tropical weather. The only thing I am not looking so forward to is…wearing my bikini!

I have noticed lately that because it gets dark at around 5:00 pm, my dinner eating schedule is way off. So, sometimes I find myself eating later, like around 8:30 -
9:00 pm at night. So as of a couple of days ago, I have implemented the number one way I lose the most weight in a healthy quick way. Not eating after 8:00 pm.

Our bodies run on a biological clock. That clock tells us when it is time to wake up and go to sleep. Our patterns coincide purposefully with the cycle of the sun and the moon. So, eating past 8:00 pm is a no no. It is a no no because our bodies start to move into sleep mode making it difficult for our bodies to digest as quickly as it does during the day.

Benefits of eating before 8:00 pm!

  • Quick weight loss because your body is not running on overtime, making it go into emergency mode, which translates to stop burning fat, conserve!
  • Food doesn’t sit in your stomach overnight, making you feel bloated in the morning.
  • Allows you to wake up the next morning with more energy.
  • Allows you to feel lighter, and improves your digestion.
