The Word on the Street

Guest contributor: Shelby Jones, ISPA Public Relations Manager

Street cred is important for any rapper, just ask Jay-Z, Eminem or Soulja Boy, but it’s also important for spas to gain some solid credibility.  Word on the street travels fast, so in order to hold down your spa cred you have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. The respect you earn from your business relationships and accomplishments seals your rep, so you better make sure you aren’t a poser. Earning your street cred can be tough when the competition is stiff, so take the advice below and you’ll be rollin’ with the homies in no time.

Big credibility killers come in small packages. Janis Joplin, a rocker who definitely had a lot of street cred, said, “Don’t compromise yourself. You’re all you’ve got.”

  • Promises aren’t meant to be broken.
  • Building your rep on the social scene. Even Diddy tweets (@IAmDiddy). Spas can build cred by sharing deals, openings and expertise.
  • Trust starts on the inside.

We’re out, word to your mother.

Like what you’re clicking? If you’re in the spa industry, we encourage you to become a member of our partner ISPA; weekly e-mails with pointers like these are just one small part of the package to help you succeed!

And now, can’t forget the photo cred
