Start With the Man in the Mirror

Change. Some people crave it while others are terrified of it.  It’s easy to get stuck in a rut that you can’t seem to escape.  Spas can relate because it’s simple to offer the same old treatments and promotions year in and year out.  This can leave a stale taste in the mouths of many spa-goers who are looking for unique experiences.

The good news is that there’s no need to be afraid of change anymore.  Just look at all the successful people who have embraced change: Barack Obama based his entire presidential campaign on it, Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour’s motto is, “What’s next?” and David Bowie taught us that ch-ch-changes aren’t so bad you just have to “turn and face the strain.”

It’s time to start embracing change. Here are some tips to help you on your way:

  • One of the biggest and most challenging changes can be transitioning from Jr. High to High School.  If you experienced any kind of freshman initiation then you know what I’m talking about. While it’s obvious that many teenagers going through this change become anxious, no one ever considers that parents might be feeling a little nervous too.   One dad decided to put a positive spin on this big transition to encourage others to embrace change.
  • Sometimes large, established companies can catch “Big Company Disease,” which makes them resistant to change.  This list of five things not to do will help small companies avoid the disease, and create an environment encouraging innovation.
  • Let’s face it. Change is hard.  You’ve done the same thing for the last 10 years because it works, and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?  Learn how to make the Switch by following the advice of two change leaders to overcome organizational change.
  • Work change to your advantage at work.  Didn’t get that promotion? Don’t let a disappointment ruin your chances of future possibilities.

In the words of Michael Jackson “take a look at yourself and then make a change.”
