On St. Patrick’s Day, the luck supposed to fall on all of us, Irish-ness aside…and what day should be luckier than your wedding day? Here are some ideas we cobbled together to make your wedding day chock full o’ the luck of the Irish, whether you get hitched on March 17th or not! (Although it might be weird to throw an Irish-themed wedding on July 4th. Just saying.)
Rings: Claddagh rings are a great way to signify your devotion – the two hand/one heart pattern is symbolic, lovely, and very Irish.
Wedding party gifts: In gifts to your groomsmen and bridesmaids, include a lucky talisman like a rabbits’ foot or four-leaf clover.
Decorations: This one’s easy – if you’re actually getting hitched on March 17th, fresh greenery should be in abundance. Ivy and other leafy greens can festoon the ceremony and reception locations. Scatter chocolate coins in gold foil on the tables. Green and white invitations can be simple and classy.
Dancing: Consider breaking the ice on the dance floor with an Irish jig lesson!
Whatever you do, restrict your guests to a moderate amount of whiskey, lest they develop the gift of gab and go home with foot-in-mouth disease…
