BEATLES GIVEAWAY: All You Need Is Love

Although it’s the only appropriate time of the year to whip out The Cheesiest Love Songs Ever mix (click to listen at your own risk)… it’s also a time to appreciate the perennial music that inspires us year round.

The Beatles have brought immeasurable amounts of love to the world with some of most meaningful lyrics, poignant harmonies, and greatest love songs of all time. But The Beatles’ message of love isn’t simply about loving another person; it’s about loving oneself and finding peace.

A new Beatles movement has taken the form of a yoga class called All You Need Is Love Yoga, where participants go on the emotional Yogic journey to the rhythm of The Beatles. Founder MacKenzie Pause (twitter) has combined her two great loves to create this class, and tells SWD the songs she uses most:

“I’d say some of the classics that make it in each class are Across The Universe, Let It Be, Strawberry Fields Forever, Something, And I Love Her, and Here Comes The Sun. The possibilities are endless as sitar driven songs like Love You To work well and compliment string heavy songs like Eleanor Rigby,” she shares. “Sometimes solo works like Harrison’s All Things Must Pass and Lennon’s Imagine make an appearance. Their catalogue gives so many opportunities from soothing melodies to relevant lyrical content to eastern influenced instruments and thoughts.”

Now… whether it’s for the love of yourself, your body, your life, or the love of your life… we want to know which Beatles song inspires you most.

The Prize:

We’ve partnered with The Fest For Beatles Fans (thefest.com) to give away a  plush 39″ All You Need Is Love rug (pictured above), part of The Beatles Handmade Rug Collection by Hallon Design Sweden. A $225 value.

I read the news today, oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
    I saw a photograph………

John's song constructedn from newspaper articles, with a middle eight by Paul,
creates a collidascopic view of life in the late sixties.

    - I'd love to turn you on…..

Here, There & Everywhere. This song was sang as I walked down the aisle to be married. Simple but beautiful…

“…and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make” is my favorite lyric because my husband sang it to me all the time.

  • lauriemj

Eight days a week – from when I went on a vacation with my children that was 8 days long and we sang this throughout to celebrate our time together!

  • Monica Garcia

“Yeah I'll tell you something, I think you'll understand. When I say that something, I wanna hold your hand. ” Me and my husband used this song as our first dance at our wedding. We used the more acoustic version from the film “Across the Universe”. It was so fitting as our first dance. We had been togther for nine years before getting married and we even had “All you need is Love” on the top of our wedding invitations.

Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Paul wrote this about his mother. My mom passed away 8 years ago. Whenever I hear this song (especially when he sings it at his concerts) it brings tears to my eyes. I loved my mom so much and I'm still waiting for her to come to me with her words of wisdom…I'd welcome it.

My all time favorite Beatles love song is In My Life. This is because it was the wedding song for my mother and father who have been together for almost 30 years now and listening to that song makes me think of them and all the love they share and how it is possible to fall in love and have it last through good and bad times. This is also the song I want to be played at my wedding one day because of the influence my parents have had In my life as well and it is the song that got me listening to the Beatles. Thank You.

The long and winding road that leads to your door,
will never disappear, I've seen that road before.
It always leads me here, leads me to your door.
The wild and windy night that the rain washed away
has left a pool of tears crying for the day.
Don't leave me standing here, let me know the way.

    Beautiful imagery.

Well… My favorite song is… Actually I love them all I love the Beatles songs so much that I also did my senior term paper on them. But in the end if I had to pick just one I'd pick Octopus's Garden it's so different yet so good.

  • T.Torres

“Do You Want To Know A Secret?”
I had the biggest crush for this girl when I was in high school and didn';t have the courage to ask her out and in the end she moved away. I learned from that day on to not hesitate with my feelings.

  • Danielle8502

Like many say, it's really hard to choose a favorite Beatles Love song. But i have to say my Favorite is Love song is “Julia.”

I believe this song was made for John Lennon's mother (Julia) and Yoko (OceanChild). as for the yoko reference, what i get from it is he wants to take his love for his mother and give it all to yoko…that he sees his mother in yoko and giving up would be like losing his mother again…only from misery could such beauty unfold…

I named my Daughter “Julia” with no hesitation and 3 months after she was born my mother passed away. So Julia (my daughter) is “Oceanchild” in this case and my Mother is “Julia”. :) Love this song with all my heart!
