Yoga Cookies

I don’t practice yoga on a regular basis, but if I knew I was going to be getting these Sivananda Oatmeal Cookies at the end of each session, it just may get me on the mat. Students enjoy these nutritious treats after leaving Sivananda Yoga Centers. On their site they say the cookies “are good for you, filling, and they taste SOOOOO good.” Could it get any better than that?

Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups oatmeal
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 cup ground almonds or hazelnuts
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1 1/2 cups honey
- 3/4 cup milk 1/4 tsp.
- Salt 3/4 tsp.
- Nutmeg 1 1/2 tsp.
- Cinnamon 1 tbsp.
- Baking powder

Instructions: Mix wet ingredients. Mix and sift all dry ingredients (except nuts) into the wet ones. Now add the ground nuts. Shape cookies 2 to 3 inches onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes. Makes about 20 cookies.

Let me know if you try this recipe – I would love to hear how you liked them and see pictures!

You’re Kidding, Right?

After being told how important sunscreen is for the fight against skin cancer, a new team of researches from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland is kicking off a 3-year study to determine whether or not sunscreen may actually be linked to brain disease. What?

“There is now firm evidence that some engineered nanoparticles entering intravenously or via lungs can reach the brains of small animals,” said pathologist and toxicologist Professor Vyvyan Howard, who is working on the project.

I’m not exactly sure what this means for us, but I guess we’ll have to just wait and see.

Not So Fierce

This past February Christian Siriano debuted his edgy shoes for Payless on the runway, and the spiked heels had me excited for the shoes to hit stores. However, I am greatly disappointed to learn that those Egyptian-inspired heels and booties are not the actual collection sold at Payless.

Currently, a few modest styles are available and I am just bored with them. What happened to those fierce shoes I saw on the runway? The $25 – $45 price point is just about the only exciting thing about them.

What do you think? Do you plan on checking them out at Payless?
