Flick Of The Wrist

What if you could throw on a skirt or bangle and simultaneously burn calories? No, I’m not talking about a gimmicky ab-stimulation apparatus, I’m referring to fitnessUwear, a line of on-the-go accessories designed to add extra resistance so you can gain muscle while going about your normal day.

Add up to 1 lb. of resistence with Banglz Wrist/Ankle Weights, or focus on your legs with the SmartSlip, which acts as a resistance band and can be worn under skirts, dresses, and even over leggings.

The idea is to constantly engage in exercise without disrupting your normal behavior. It’s not meant to replace working out, but rather provide busy women with a solution for those days when they can’t find the time to get to the gym (which seems to happen far too often).

Midas Touch Giveaway

The indulgent princess in me wants to be draped in tiaras and trinkets, while the good-natured greenie wants to munch on organic oats and hug the hardwood.

I’m just as conflicted when it comes to beauty–I want the best (who doesn’t?) but also don’t want to be wasteful, or worse, apply anything toxic on (or in) me.

La ROCCA skincare speaks to me in a number of ways. It’s a sustainable collection that uses all-natural 24K gold (yes, gold!) in its products. The 24K C-Gold complex is a lightweight gel that protects against UVA/UVB rays, repairs sun damage, and stimulates cell regenerations. Plus, the complete skincare line is biodegradable and comes in 100% recyclable packaging.

WIN A BOTTLE

The first two people that answer this correctly will win a 1 oz. bottle of 24K C-Gold Gel ($150 value).

Question: LaROCCA skincare is owned by Laura LaRocca. What’s the name of the beauty line she co-founded before LaROCCA?

Lean and Green

The number of weight-loss, beauty, and health drops/drinks/pills on the market is overwhelming. How are we supposed to sift through everything and figure out what’s propaganda vs. promising. I’m typically weary of anything ingestible because it’s going inside me, but I decided to try Pure Inventions, a line of supplements free of caffeine, artificial sweeteners, sugars, and calories—all the bad stuff.

Everyone knows the payoff of green tea–it’s a powerful antioxidant and often used to improve skin, energy levels, metabolisms, and it’s even believed to aid in treating disease. While it’s step-sister drink, coffee, doesn’t have nearly the same benefits—if any at all—I’m just not as satisfied sipping tea unless I’m under the weather. I am, however, very pleased with this alternative: Each dropper-full of Pure Inventions Raspberry Green Tea Extract is equal to 100 mg of green tea.

I may not be ready to give up coffee but this is a sip in the right direction.

Side of Ranch

My old roommate spent a week every summer with her mother at Rancho La Puerta. She’d return refreshed and thin, and find me unpleasantly restless in our piping hot Los Angeles apartment.

This month SpaWeek.com is offering a great package with the 3,000-acre property—book a weeklong stay and your guest is 50% off. You’ll indulge in foods farmed in their organic ranch, and hourly fitness classes targeted to every level. Plus, the sun shines year-round so both of you will come back with a golden glow (just make sure to lather up with sunscreen—enter to win a free sun kit here).
